Violarium Trio, created in 1998, was brought into being by three students of Cracow's Music Academy: Anna Kozera (violin), Mariusz Grochowski (viola) and Lukasz Szymakowski (cello). What they wanted to do, was basically to challenge the least popular music which is contemporary music.

They learnt about music not only during their studies, completed in 1999 (Grochowski, Szymakowski) and 2002 (Kozera), but as well as during the courses which they completed abroad in Mannheim, Stuttgart, Dresden and Innsbruck. The secrets of contemporary music they got to know first of all with professor Adam Kaczynski at the Chamber Music Department of Contemporary Music Academy in Cracow while completing postgraduate studies. They didn`t wait long for the first results of that strenuous work. Since September 2000 the musicians have started gaining merits taking part in numerous competitions. Although they give many concerts, they still continue to improve their skills. In March and April 2004 the group took part in Master Courses conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki himself. From among many concerts they particularly recall the participation in the Jubilee Concert dedicated to professor Krystyna Moszumanska-Nazar in October 2004. One month later the musicians made the first in history of Cracow performance of Krzysztof Meyer String Trio. And, at last, in February 2005 Violarium Trio performed a concert in Cracow's Philharmonic Concert Hall. Their performances always receive positive critiques.

In their repertoire there are works of Polish compozers (Krzysztof Penderecki, Marek Stachowski, Henryk Mikołaj Gorecki, Krystyna Moszumanska-Nazar, Zbigniew Rudzinski, Krzysztof Knittel) as well as foreign composers (Anton Webern, Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, Paul Hindemith, David Cope, Theo Verbey, Rob du Bois, Alfred Schnittke, Anestis Logotetis).
